How does one safely remove the original mirror glass?
James L September 26, 2016
safety glasses and recommend a glove. put 2 fingers behind the glass and pry out gently. Should pop off
Brian F September 27, 2016
Its a little difficult because if the mirror is broken it tends to chip and shoot. I recommend taking a grease rag and putting it over your hand to protect it and to prevent the glass from braking off and shooting at you.

I engaged my safety squints and just pulled. Really just point the mirror up as much as you can with the power mirror adjustment, get your fingers under the bottom(gloves are probably a good idea, I did it bare handed without issue but it probably was careless) look away or have safety glasses on, and just give it a sharp yank. The bottom unclips then you need to slide he whole mirror up and it will pop off. Install is reverse of removal but you want to be very careful. When popping the new unit in. Try to spread the palm of your hand across the whole mirror(tTo avoid a hard pressure point and spread out the load) and give it a quick "pump" or like a jolt to press it in.

From what I’ve seen, it will most likely cause shards of glass to fall off. I used gloves that went up my wrists and safety glasses, and made sure to sweep all of the glass up after
