In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the outside door handle on this 2004 Dodge Ram, same for any '02 to '08 1500 and then '02 to '09 2500 and 3500. Tools you'll need to do this job are a T40 Torx driver, Phillips screwdriver, flat blade screwdriver, a 10 millimeter wrench or socket and ratchet and 8 millimeter or socket and ratchet and a T25 Torx driver. That's only for removing and replacing the lock on the driver side door.
To remove your front door panel, you're going to start by removing a T40 Torx screw that holds your handle on, right there. Then you're going to remove four Phillips screws: one there, one up here and then two down the lower part of your door panel. Here's my T40 Torx driver. We're going to speed it up here, take that T40 screw out and then your handle comes off. Then, I'm going to start with the Phillips screwdriver. Take those two off and then slyly take my jacket off so you can see my 1A Auto sweatshirt and remove the two lower Phillips screws. I'll use a regular screwdriver, carefully pry up on your switch plate here then pull it up. Both these connectors have a little button right here. Press the button and work the connector off the switch. Do the same thing here for the button right there. Now, just lift the door panel up and over the lock here. It comes off.
You want to use the 10 millimeter wrench or socket and ratchet. There's a bolt here. There's also a bolt there but it's missing. I'm not sure if this door may have been taken apart before. Then, there's a little clip, right here, that you either push down with your hand or pull it down and then you pull this one right out. Then, you want to carefully pull your water shield down.
To get to the door handle, make sure your window's all the way up. First, we're going to remove the two 8 millimeter nuts. We'll use a little fast forward to go through that. Now, you basically want to get in here. With your thumb, you can push that right off and then pull your rod out. What we're going to do is, see that pink clip in there? We're going to reach around with our finger to the back side and pull that clip off. What you're basically going to see is a good shot of my shoulder. Pull the pink clip in there with your finger. It comes off. Then pull the rod out by pulling it towards the inside of the door. The lock rod comes out. Now for your handle, you're going to bring it off here first, slide it forward a little bit and then it comes out. It just got hung up on the rod a little bit.
Now, you're going to want to change your lock mechanism over. It's a T25 Torx screw. Remove the screw. The lock comes right out. Here's a new handle from 1A Auto. You can see it's just the same as the original. Put the lock in. Put the screw in. Tighten it up. You'd want to tip your handle up and insert the rod for your handle itself and then the lock, the blue lock on there, or the clear lock if it's a new handle, then put the handle in. You'll need to pull the handle a little bit. Get the back in place. Slide it back a little bit and on. Flip that lock on to it. I'll put my 8 millimeter screws and nuts back on. Again, we'll use a little fast forward as we just put those nuts on by hand, and then, use our wrench or you can use a socket and ratchet to tighten them up.
Once the handle is tight, then we just put the water shield back in place. Put our inside door handle back on and tighten the nuts for that. Then, you want to insert the rod and lock the clip on. Before you put the door panel back on, you want to take this lock bezel and push the clips in and pop it off. It has little teeth there. It just has little teeth there that hold it in. You're just going to push them with your finger over. Put it back on. What you want to do is . there's teeth at the bottom . kind of rest it like that and bring it up. Pull your harness up, out of the way. Lock your door. Press your door, lock it down. Take that up and over, pull it back up. You might have to pull it up just a little bit and slide it down. We've got to put the four Phillips screws back in. We'll fast forward through just putting those four Phillips screws in and tightening them up. For your switch, put the smaller connector in then the larger connector. You feed the wiring down in. Push it down in. For our door handle, I'm just going to put my extension and my bit in into place. Then you pretty much start turning. It pretty much finds its own way. Then for your lock, push that right down and you're all set

In this video we're going to show you how to remove and reinstall the exterior driver's door handle on this 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. This information is going to be similar for the other door handles on the vehicle. Be sure that the window is rolled up before starting this repair. Here are the items you'll need: New door handle from 1AAuto.com, 8-10mm sockets, ratchet and extension, flat blade screwdriver, #2 and #3 Phillips screwdriver, T-25 Torx driver.
Remove the 10mm bolt in the inside edge of the door handle. Remove the door handle from the opening. Remove the #3 Phillips behind the door handle, and in this top corner, two #2 Phillips on the bottom of the panel. Lift up on the door panel to release. Then we'll have to disconnect the two connectors from the window switch. Peel back the weather coating on the inside of the door panel.
Remove the white and blue clips from the latch rods at the back of the door handle. These simply press off and rotate out of the way so you're able to remove the hooks. Remove these two 8mm nuts with a socket ratchet and extension. We'll hold the back of the handle so we can open it. Work the exterior door handle from the door.
Here we have our old door handle that we removed from our 2008 Dodge Ram 1500, and our new door handle from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, these parts are exactly the same, with the exception of our old part still having the lock cylinder installed in it.
One screw changes that over into our new one. A lot of the time these clips can break and keep the latch rod from staying in place. The spring can break and keep the handle from returning to its normal position, as well as the actual plastic of the door handle breaking. So if any of these symptoms are making it difficult to get in and out of your vehicle, this new door handle from 1AAuto.com is going to go, direct fit just like your original equipment and fix you up right.
Change over the lock cylinder from our old door handle to our new one. We'll remove this T25 Torx screw with the Torx bit and a ratchet. Slide the lock cylinder out and into our replacement door handle. Reinstall the screw.
Now it's ready to be reinstalled into our truck. Pull out on the door handle so it will drop this latch down. Install it into the door and reinstall the two 10mm nuts. Reinstall the latch rods into the hole, and lock the clips back into place. It may help to use a small flat blade screwdriver for the blue clip. Re-adhere the weather cover.
Pop off the door lock bezel by pushing from the back. Reinstall your two window switch connectors. Line up the tabs in the door panel. Slide your door panel into place. Pop the door lock bezel back into place. Reinstall your four door panel screws. Hold your screw in place for the interior handle. Line it up and tighten it down.

In this video, we're going to show how to remove and replace the rear door handle on this 2004 Dodge Ram quad cab, same as any '02 to '08, plus any '09 2500 or 3500. Tools you'll need are 8mm and 10mm sockets with ratchet and extension and a Phillips screwdriver.
First, you're going to remove two fasteners. There is either a T40 Torx Bit or a 10mm socket bolt there holding your door handle on and then a Phillips screw right there. Here's the T40 Torx Bit or the 10mm socket with an extension. You'll need the extension with the Torx Bit as well. I'm going to use the 10mm socket. Pull your door handle up a little bit. As I'm turning, I'm just pulling out on the handle a little bit. Here's the 10mm screw. Then your door panel just comes up. Walk your door like that, and pull that out. Behind, there is a connector, here, for your power window. You just push down here and disconnect and then the door panel comes right off.
To remove the outside door handle, pull back your water shield some and then there are two 8mm bolts: one there, and then, using a screwdriver, push down and pry off this little plug and that exposes another 8mm nut there. Here's our plug. Then use an 8mm socket with a ratchet and extension. I'm just speeding it up here as I just remove those nuts and you just want to make sure to be careful not to drop those down under your door. It's hard to find. Now what you're going to want to do is to pull the handle out, pull it to the open position just a little bit, pull it down, and now, there's a little clip right here you need to push. You need to push with a pair of pliers or a screwdriver or something or just use your finger and then the handle comes off and you can see my handle here is fine.
Just to show you how to re-install it, reverse the procedure. Put the rod in, pull the clip down, lock it on, force that down just a little bit, get that counterweight up and in, slide it back some and it's on. I'll take our 8mm nuts. If you like . actually these are already sticky, so, at the factory, they may have put just a little glue on to help them hold on. Put a little glue just so they hold in to your socket, and turn. We'll speed it up as just turn those in by hand. Again, just be very careful not to drop them down in the door. Now, I'll tighten them up. They don't have to be incredibly tight.
To put it back on, first what you're going to want to do is pop this bezel around your door lock off, which just requires you to push on the little teeth from the bottom here and then unsnap it. Now there are two teeth down here. Just hook those in a little bit. Pull your plug lead for your power window out a little bit and plug that in. Then push it in. You may have to lift up just a little bit, make sure that the lock comes through. Push down. Make sure all your edges are nice and tight against the door. Put our screw in. Take your door handle, put the socket or the Torx bit right on it. Loop it in there. Pretty much you'll start turning and it finds its way. Then, for your lock bezel, put that over and it snaps on.

Looking at your door panel, you're gonna see your inner door handle. You wanna go ahead and remove that 10-millimeter headed bolt that's in there. Let's get the handle out of the way. Next, let's move along to getting this off right here. Let's our plastic trim tool and remove this master switch right here. There we are. Go ahead and pull on this tab, set this aside. Now we need to remove our four Philips head mounting screws. You'll have up here, one in the center where your handle was, and then two along the bottom. Grab your panel like this and carefully lift up. There we go. Now that that door panel is out of the way, let's continue on by getting this out of here. If you grab onto this white tab, push down, it's gonna unlock and then you can remove the rod from it.
Next, let's continue on by removing our two 10-millimeter mounting nuts. Grab onto the unit itself, draw it away from the door. Now, let's move along to removing our vapor barrier here. I like to use a tool that looks like this, made of plastic so I don't scratch my paint, and we're just going to try to get rid of this butyl tape here. Now that the vapor barrier is out of the way, we have a nice, clear view of the inside door handle area. I'm just gonna use this pocket screwdriver here. Press up against that and I'm gonna wiggle that. Okay. Now this one right here. There it is. Both those rods are off of there. Just pull on this a little bit, and then if you just go on ahead and just pull on the handle, it should wanna come right up and out of there. There is it, friends.
Now let's make our way over to the bench. We're going to remove the locking cylinder from the actual handle itself. We have to remove this Torx-headed bolt right here. Grab the lock cylinder, slide it out of there, grab our new handle, slide it right in. Get that in there nice and tight, give it a little tweak. Now it's gonna be time to get our new handle in here. Just keep in mind you wanna have the handle in the pulled position so this is tilted down. Tilt it in from the top, now I'm gonna line up those studs by looking in from the inside. There we are. That slides in perfectly. Let's go ahead and get our nuts back on here, snug them up.
So now it's gonna be time to get the rods back in. I'm gonna start with the farthest one from me with the pink lock. Just slide that in. And then once you have it slid into its area, go ahead and lock it in. There we are. That's locked in. Push that in. I'm just gonna use my pocket screwdriver. Try to use it as, like a lever. That one's locked in as well. Give them both a shake. You wanna make sure that they don't come unsecured because, obviously, your door handle and lock won't work right. This looks great. Awesome.
Before we go too much further, let's go ahead and give this a test. I'm just gonna use this screwdriver. I'm gonna come right inside the latch and I'm gonna pull back on it just like this which kinda makes it seem like I'm using the striker over there. Now I'm gonna apply forward pressure and I'm gonna pull on the door and see if it releases. That releases perfect. The door would've opened right there. Latched, released. Now let's get this vapor barrier back on here. You just wanna pay attention to this area right here because that's where the rod is. Pull that through, line it up with approximately where you got it all from, and then, of course, make sure it's stuck back on. Let's get this bracket back on there. We want this so it's facing down. Slide that right in there, lock it in, of course. Start on both your nuts, snug them up.
Now it's gonna be time to get our door panel back on, but before we can do that, let's get this little cover out of here. This is where that door lock is gonna be. That's gonna make it so much easier for us in the long run. Now let's put this up to the door, grab our wiring, make sure it comes through. Come up here, we want to come high. That way there, all those hooks can fit into their corresponding holes. I'm pushing at the same time as I'm letting this come down. Okay. Okay. I'm just gonna feel along the whole way, make sure I'm sitting completely up against the door. Let's grab this right here. I'm gonna go ahead and lift up on that door lock, pop this one in there. All right. Move along to our window switch here, lock this in. Okay. Make sure it's locked in. Perfect. Now, let's move along down here to putting in our handle.
So now we're gonna get our handle on here. I'm just gonna get my tool ready so it's already on the handle, put it in so it lines up with its spot, make sure that's snug. Perfect. Now it's gonna be time to put in our mounting screws. Let's go ahead up here. I'm gonna use the two larger ones first. One down here. Awesome.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a front door handle on this 2005 Dodge Durango. Pretty much the same for any 2004 to 2009 Durango. We show you the front left hand or the front drivers side, which is basically the same procedure as the front passenger side as well. Tools you'll need for the job include a replacement door handle from 1A Auto.com, small flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, and an 8 millimeter wrench or a socket with ratchet.
Take a small screwdriver and kind of push towards the front to pry up on your panel here. That comes up and out and, then front slides out, and then there is three connectors. They just have little tabs. You push with your thumb, pull up and out. Now, in behind here, door handle, just pry out this little cover here with a small screwdriver. There is a Phillips screw there, as well as a Phillips screw, under there, and one further back there. I'll just fast-forward here. I'm just using a Phillips screwdriver and removing those three screws I just showed you. Once those screws are off, just lift up on the panel and then start pulling it out. You'll see a little blue clip back here. Pull that blue clip back off the rod, then pull the rod up and remove your door. Carefully pull this water shield off.
To remove your door handle, look right in here and you'll see two clips, a blue and orange one. The blue one, push it straight back and then remove that rod. Same thing with the orange one. Push it back towards the back of the door and pull that rod out. Then, there are two bolts: one here and one there. Two nuts are 8 millimeter. Just got to reach right in with an 8 millimeter socket with ratchet. A wrench would work as well. Okay, once those screws are out, we'll pull out on the door handle, pull it forward, and right out.
Here's my old handle, new handle from 1A Auto. You do just need to switch the lock over. T20 Torx driver. Take this screw right out. Lock comes out. Into the new one. Fit right in. Put your handle in, pull it out back from there. Pull it out, put it in, make sure the back goes all the way in, slide it back, then get the studs in. Keep pushing it back as you push it in. The door, put your two 8 millimeter nuts back on.
Make sure your rods are free. They didn't get bound up when you were putting the handle on. Tighten up these two nuts. I'll come back in here, make sure this clip is kind of down, push that rod in, and then take this rod here, put it in place, and clip that rod on. For this one, what you want to do is pull your handle out, then reach in there and clip that rod. Pull the handle out, reach in there, grab that clip, clip it on. Make sure unlocked.
Make sure you put your water shield back up in place. To put this panel back on, make sure your harnesses goes in through there. Pull this rod out, put it into that blue clip, and lock the clip on. Now, make sure your door lock goes through there. You can look back in here and see where all the hooks are. Just make sure that the front and rear are going flush to the door. Just going to make sure all the hooks are on correctly. Slide it down. Oops, never realized that this came out. Try to lock this on there. Everything should be nice and tight around the edges. Here, I'm going to speed it up again as I just reinstall the three screws the two at the bottom and the one in behind the door handle. Those three screws hold the door handle down in place. Slide this down, the front end first. This can be a little bit of a pain. Just put this little trim back on.
