What are HIDs? Do I have them?

HID stands for High Intensity Discharge, and its one of the newest technologies to hit lighting today. While the more common halogen bulbs run off the vehicle’s standard 12v system, HID use a ballast controller to boost the voltage up to as much as 50v, allowing for a brighter light. Due to the complexity and high cost, these types of lights are normally only found in the more premium vehicles but slowly making their way into the mainstream.
