Customer Question:
I have a 2000 Eclipse. What is the trick to getting the front wheel hub module off. My bearings are bad. I can't get a wrench on the 4 bolts on the back side of the hub.
1A Auto Replies:
I actually own a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant which shares many parts with the 2000 Eclipse. If I recall correctly, you separate the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle (17mm bolt), take the giant nut off the end of the axle, and then pop out the axle itself. Once the axle is out, you should have no trouble getting at the 4 bolts on the back of the hub with a socket & ratchet. They are going to be tight, so use a long ratchet or breaker bar to get the extra force.
