In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a side view mirror on this 2008 Chevy HHR, same as any '06 to 2010. Tools you'll need are a small flat blade screwdriver, a T30 Torx driver, a putty knife or a door panel clip tool. Those three things just get your door panel off. Then you'll need a 10 millimeter wrench or an socket and ratchet.
First, look down inside your pull cap here. You'll see a little tab. Grab the tab, pull up the little rubber plate. Then there's two T30 Torx screws in there. Then take a little screwdriver. Pry out underneath this little tee point here. Then a T30 Torx screw on there. Use a little fast motion here as I remove those three T30 screws. Right down here's a little pin. Just kind of pry it out with a screwdriver. Okay. Take a putty knife first. Put it back in there. Pull. Use a door panel clip tool if you like. Find the rest of the pins. You can kind of look in there at the same time. Actually, what I eventually found on this is it's actually easy once you get the door panel out a little bit. Just run your fingers underneath the door panel until you come to one of the clips and then give it a good pull and it comes off.
I'm going to pull this down just a little bit. Here's our connection for the mirror. I'll pry out. You can either use your fingernail or a screwdriver. A little tab. Pry out and disconnect that. Three 10mm bolts here. You can use a socket and ratchet. A wrench will work fine. We'll hit a little high speed here as we just remove those three nuts. Okay. The mirror comes off. Pull out the harness. Okay. New mirror from 1A Auto. Has the chrome back and everything which is correct for this vehicle. We're just going to pull this out here. We can put the mirror in place. We use our original bolts. Hit a little fast motion here again. Put those three 10mm nuts on there and then tighten them up with our socket and ratchet and extension. Don't over tighten them. Just you want to tighten them up nice and firm.
Then connect our lead right there. Put that back. Okay. We'll kind of fast forward through putting the door panel back on there. If you want to see this in regular speed, just check out our other videos but you can probably get pretty much everything you need. Put the lock switch back on there. Put the cable back on for the door handle. Put it into place. Make sure you get the tongue on the top to go down into the clips. Then peek in, make sure the clips all wind up. Push it onto the door panel. Then put your three T30 Torx screws back in and your trim plates back on.

2011 Chevy HHR Mirror Passenger Side
Ruben
February 19, 2018
Perfect match for the one that had to be replaced. The damaged mirror (we think it was a stone traveling at immense speed that completely shattered it) was easy to remove and it was very straightforward to fit the replacement. The tutorial video from 1A Auto was superb.
suffice, but not ecstatic
