In this video, we're going to show you how to service, as well as change the entire headlight assembly on this 2005 Ford Focus. The items you'll need for this are new headlights from 1AAuto.com, 7 millimeter and 10 millimeter socket and ratchet, quarter inch socket, T30 Torx bit, Phillips screwdriver, and a flat blade screwdriver.

Your passenger side headlight, you can access underneath the hood. We'll just show you here on the headlight out of the car. Just twist counter-clockwise on the signal bulb and you can get it out the headlight. You have to pull the cover off and then pull the harness out, and then there's a ring inside around the bulb. You twist that ring counterclockwise and then it comes off. Remove the bulb. You put it in with the little tab for the harness that locks the harness on. That's up top. Put the bulb back in, and make sure it's secure. Put the lock ring back in and twist it clockwise to lock it, and then reconnect. The passenger side, somebody with smaller hands can get to but you may need to remove at least the air box to get to the to the driver's side.

We start off by removing the shroud, and it's held in with three Phillips clips. To remove these, just twist out the center and they pull up. We'll just fast forward as Don does this. Once those are removed, the shroud will pull up and off. Next, you want to pry out these two clips as well as remove these two 10 millimeter bolts. To pry out the clips, just use a pair of pliers. You can also use a flat blade screwdriver and you just want to pry them up and out. Now that the bolts are removed, lift the tabs on the top and then slide the grille forward and out.

Under your bumper cover, you'll see a series of 7 millimeter bolts. We'll just fast forward as Don removes these. Next, you want to remove this T30 bolt, and you want to do this on the other side as well. Then you want to remove this 7 millimeter bolt right here. We'll just fast forward as Don does this and, again, you want to do this on the other side as well. Inside your inner fender, you'll see, along the edge of the bumper cover, the three black 10 millimeter bolts. You want to just go ahead and remove those. We'll just fast forward as Don does that.

To get to the three bolts on this side, you have to remove your air intake box. Loosen up this hose clamp with the quarter inch socket. Now, you have to remove these 10 millimeter bolts that hold in your air intake box. We'll just fast forward as Don removes those. Now, you want to pull your air intake box down. You just want to pull it down until you can access the top hose clamp, and then loosen that with your quarter inch socket. Now, that the air intake box is removed, you can remove these three 10 millimeter bolts. We'll just fast forward as Don removes those. Now, you want to twist out your side marker light bulbs. The socket just twists and pulls out. You want to do the same thing on the other side. Now, you can pull your bumper down. On the other side, do the same thing, and just pull the bumper straight out.

Your headlight is held in with three 10 millimeter bolts: two up top and then one right here. We'll just fast forward as Don removes all three of those. On the back of your headlight, there are two harnesses. On this one, just push the tab and pull it free. With this one, pull it straight out.

On the right is the old headlight, on the left is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and they'll mount exactly the same. The new one looks a lot brighter, a lot clearer. Now, to reconnect your headlight. You just want to reconnect those two harnesses, and then push the headlight back into place. We'll just fast forward here as Don replaces those three 10 millimeter bolts.

Now, line up your bumper and push it into place. Then, we place those rubber clips on the top, we just push down the center to lock them. Now, line up the tabs on the side of the bumper and push it up into place. Do the same thing on the other side. Then we'll just fast forward as Don replaces those three 10 millimeter bolts. Twist your side marker light socket back into place on both sides.

Then feed up your air intake box back into place and reconnect that upper hose. Then, we're just going to fast forward as Don tightens up that hose clamp. Now, push the lower hose back into place and tighten up that hose clamp. Then replace those three bolts that hold the air intake box in place.

Replace those three 10 millimeter bolts on this side of the bumper. Replace that series of 7 millimeter bolts along the bottom of your bumper. If you remove any of these clips, replace them. You want to replace that T30 in both wheel wells and that 7 millimeter bolt in both wheel wells.

Now, feed your grille back into place and slide it back. Then replace those two 10 millimeter bolts. Then, just replace your shroud. With the centers back inside the clips, push them down into place, and then push the center down to lock it. Then you're all set.

To show you the difference the new headlights from 1A Auto can do for your car, these are the old ones. Here's the new ones. You can see it makes your car look a lot younger and a lot newer. They're a lot brighter and help you see much farther at night. Again, here are the old ones, and the new ones.
