I needed new wheel bearing for my Prius 2009. At first I thought about OEM parts at my local Toyota dealership. Its price was expensive (typical OEM price). Then I checked out some 'no name' brands on Amazon. They were better but there was not a lot of reviews. Someone even had issues with the bearings after three months of use. I gave TRQ a try because of its name and warranty (hopefully fully backed up by 1A Auto). Its price is comparable to Amazon's but at least 1A Auto has a real face ?? which I can contact them directly. About the OEM parts... my Toyota bearings failed at 130K (Km) so would their new bearings fail at about the same period? That's why I went for TRQ.

Quality parts at low price!

My 2008 Toyota Prius was making too much front end noise. The new front wheel bearing & hub assembly pair solved this problem. I found a local mechanic to install the pair for $200. I paid $360 total for parts & labor, saving approx $1,000 compared to what Toyota dealer quoted me for same job. If you want to save money on auto repairs, this is the place to be.

This part is really bad quality i bought it in oct and now uts the new year, imagine only two months then start making that grinding again, very disappointed, now i have to pay for freaking labor again!!!!!

Brake pads and wheel bearings arrived as expected. Decent packaging. They were both an exact replacement for the original equipment. 1a auto saved me 75% (~$300) over having someone else do it. Not much for information to help with the install but youtube saved the day there. I will be ordering again.

Bought 2 only needed 1. Easier to change than I thought. Nice and quiet now. It's only been a few weeks so far. For the price I'll be happy if I get 2 years or 40k miles, and then use the other one. Came in well packaged and on time, box was just a little squished from the shipping.

How do I know if I need the whole assembly or just the spindle?

If it is making significant noise- abruptly swing steering side to side at 35 mph or so- if the noise stops briefly during change of direction then go ahead and change bearing assembly on both sides. These units are rugged and inexpensive, however they are difficult to remove from the aluminum arm after years of service my originals lasted over 250000 miles

The parts are all integrally dependent, related, connected. Furthermore, this is not a job you want to do again or half-way. These are the reasons this replacement item comes as a kit; in fact, my order included an assembly for both left and right sides (they are the same). Therefore, it is a no-brainer to replace both bearing and spindle.

For me this question boils down to, do you have the ability to press the wheel bearing on and off? The hub and spindle would only have to be replaced if they were damaged somehow, like in an accident. The problem for most people is being able to change the bearing without causing any damage to the spindle or hub, or having the time to take it to a shop to have it done on a press. Getting the whole assembly, especially at a great price, you end up with everything being new, no time wasted cleaning the old parts and the time for the repair is greatly reduced.

By "spindle" are you referring to the wheel hub? The hub comes without the bearing and is what would fit underneath your brake rotor/wheel on one end and drive shaft on the other end. If you have a means of pressing in/out bearings then you might just need the bearing and you could reuse the hub. If you have access to a [bearing] press and can remove the entire assembly then you could save yourself some $$ I found it easier to just replace the entire assembly. My assembly needed to be removed and pressed out from the steering knuckle as they were welded together with rust and debris. Hope that helps your decision.
