Okay, friends, one of the first things we need to do is make sure that your vehicle is going to be in neutral for this. Go ahead and put the key in the on position, put it in neutral, turn it back off as far as it can. Now, we're going to take a nice plastic trim tool, something that's not going to chisel up our dash, we're gonna try to come right in between here and see if we can pop this out. Okay. Let's tilt the steering wheel down as far as we can. Lift this up and out of here. Let's remove these two lower bolts using a 7-millimeter socket. Now, let's just grab onto this, give it a little tug. Get this right out of the way. Let's grab right onto this, pull it out of here. Underneath this area right here, you're going to see three holes. Two of them should have screws. Ours doesn't actually have any screws, so you'll have to imagine it. Next, it's going to be time to separate the bottom from the top shell. To do that, you can either use a plastic trim tool and see if you can try to spread them or you can use a nice small pocket screwdriver. Whatever you do, try not to do this.

There we are. Get this forward section and pushed down. Do the same on the other side. Okay. Now, I'm just gonna roll this. If you look right along here, you can see it has two hooks. They're supposed to latch in like that. So, once you go down, push it towards the front of the vehicle, and then draw it away. Grab onto that upper shell. We're going to try to lift it up. See if we can push it a little bit because it kind of comes underneath the steering wheel. If you're having an issue, go ahead and continue on with that trim tool. Now, let's go ahead and start getting the bolts out of here. I'm going to start with this top one using a T25. There it is. Our second bolt is located right under here. That one's going to be a little bit harder to get to. I'm going to try to get this one now without removing the steering wheel. Once we get it loose enough, we should be able to grab it with our fingers. Here it comes. Now, we can wiggle this around and we can start disconnecting it. Now, if we were to follow this black wiring right here, it's going to lead us to this area. Take your small pocket screwdriver, come right underneath this ear, lift it up, and then draw this away.

Now, we're going to continue on. If you were to look right here, you're going to see an ear. You can go ahead and lift up on that and then draw this one out as well. Do the same to the other side. There it is, friends. Let's do a quick comparison of our new compared to the old. Just look at it real quick. Make sure you've got all the same buttons. You have little areas here. You also want to make sure if your vehicle is equipped with cruise control, your new one would have that as well. If for some reason your old one had cruise control and your new one didn't, well, you've got the wrong part. Now, it's time to get ready for the install. I'm going to start with this one right here because I remember it had these little flippy-dos on it, connect it right in. If you were to look at these two pieces right here, the two pigtails, you're going to see that they're very different. So, you can't really mix them up, okay? So don't worry about that. Go ahead and line it up, slide it in. Do the same to the other one. And then, of course, our little black wire, we don't want to forget about that. Line it up, slide it in, give it a tug. Double-check everything. Make sure everything's completely clicked in. That's great.

Let's start mounting it. I'm gonna put this right up on here like this. It should set right in. We've got our bolt. I'm just going to carefully try to start it in there. This is going to be the hardest part overall. You might need to wiggle this around a little bit to try to line it up with the hole. Just a couple threads. Okay. Once we get it started in a couple of good threads, we'll start in the top one. We want them both started before we tighten any of them up completely. As you can tell, I'm at a pretty severe angle here. That's due to the fact that I didn't want to go through the whole hassle of removing the steering wheel. Because, of course, that's a lot more of a process and it's not really necessarily needed. Okay. That feels like it bottomed out. Just give it a teeny bit more. I obviously don't want to crack the plastic, so keep that in mind. Let's go ahead and tighten up that upper one. Going to be time to give this a test. Let's go ahead and go left, perfect. Right, love it. And, of course, the four ways. All right. The rest of the testing we can do when we're on the road.

Now it's going to be time to get our shell back onto that steering column. I just wanted you to pay attention to this area right here and the area on the top. As you'll see, they kind of need to roll in together at the same time from side to side, and then you would just kind of squeeze it down, and then it should latch in. I'm not going to do it right now because obviously, I'm going to have to take it back apart. But that's essentially what you're going to have to do. Lock these in, squeeze it down, clip it in. Start with the top piece because that's the last piece we took off. Get it up in here. Just be careful for that steering wheel. We're going to have to get it underneath there. This looks pretty good. We're also going to pay attention along the other side here because this is where the ignition switch is and, of course, the boot for our shifter. That slides right down on there. Let's grab the lower part of the shell. I'm gonna come in and try to get it in between this area right here and up to there. Okay. Grab that hook, check on the other side, do the same thing.

Now, I'm going to attempt to bring this up. What I'm going to notice is of course this bottom part is going to be hitting up against the steering wheel as well. So I'm just going to try to push it so it goes under there. So, now we've got both parts of the shell up and inside this steering wheel area. That's super important because it's going to be very hard to do once you get this together. Let's get this backside latched in. Do the same on the other side. Double-check that boot. What's bound to happen when you're doing this stuff is one side is going to pop off when you're on the other side. You might have to keep going back and forth. Squeeze this in and I'm going to try to latch these together. There we are. Double-check the other side. Perfect. Let's get this bottom kick panel back on here. You're going to notice you have a little piton and then you have an area that's supposed to go into the clippy-do there. We're going to put the piton in the hole, and then the little clippy-do is going to line up right here. Okay. That looks fair. Just pull this away if you need to. On the other side, you should have approximately the same thing going on.

Loving bonk. Give it a little wiggle. Now let's get our screws in. Now it's time to get the dash faceplate in here. Just carefully put it down, give this a little push, see if we can weasel it under there. Okay. Now, we're going to line it up. Give it a little wiggle, make sure it's not going to come free. And there it is. Let's go ahead and get this back in here. Line it up, press it in, give it a wiggle.

We removed the steering wheel for this job. We don't necessarily need to remove the steering wheel, but it makes it a lot easier to see and easier to do the job. Now, I wanna tip the steering column down. Just use the adjuster, adjust it down. Take the key, put the key in, turn it on, and then slide the shifter lever all the way to low. And just grab, make sure your foot is on the brake while you're doing this. And just grab this trim, just slide it out just like this. Tip it down, slide it out, put it out of the way.

Now, you can put the vehicle back in park, take the key out. Now, I'm gonna take this panel off right here. Just slide that off. Use a 10-millimeter socket. You wanna remove this bracket right here that holds the parking brake release. There's a 10-millimeter bolt right there, take that off. Just slide that out of the way. And there's two screws right here or bolts, use a 7-millimeter socket to take those out.

Then you should be able to grab this panel and just slide it out. It should be clipped in. The clips are missing on this vehicle, but if you just grab it and yank it towards the back of the vehicle, that will come out. I'm just gonna adjust the column up a little bit, then we can take the adjuster off. Just grab it and just pull it towards the outside of the vehicle. Sometimes these are pretty tricky, you could put a straight blade screwdriver in there and pry it out a little bit if you have to.

Now, just double-check underneath in these holes. Make sure there's no screws in there. This vehicle doesn't have any screws, sometimes there is screws. Sometimes you just grab this panel and just slide it down just like that. Clips in on the back and clips in. And the top panel, same thing. Should just clip in. Take that off. All right. There's two screws, you can take the screw out right there, and then there's another screw on top right here. Use a T25. Just be careful, you don't wanna mess up the clock spring.

And take this top screw out. Then you can grab the switch and just slide it out to the side. Now, you can disconnect the connectors. Now, we can disconnect the connectors, just use a pocket screwdriver, lift up under the tab. Just try to slide the wires out just like that. There's another connector down here and one more. There we go.

All right. Before you put this in, you could put a little grease on that little tab right there. That's gonna ride on the backside of here that has to do with the horn circuit. And you got to angle this in a little bit just like that. Get the holes lined up. It sits in there a certain way. You'll know when you get it. And that's good like that. You can put the bolts back in. You can start with the top bolt. I'm gonna get this screw started. And just make sure that's in a certain position and snug those bolts down.

Now, you can connect the connectors if you wanted to. If it was a little easier for you, you could plug the connectors in before you hook this up. Just put them in their proper spots. And this gray one goes right here. And this other black one with the two feet go on top. And this other one goes right here. There you go. All right. We're gonna reinstall the covers. The top cover goes up here and the bottom cover, it's gonna loop on like that and then sandwiched together.

So, that's why you take all this stuff off in the area because it's a lot easier to get these together. So, just slide this in position and take the bottom cover, click it in the back. Loop it on there, loop it on the other side. All right. And these are looped on. I just wanna slide this in position and the shifter boot. Keep that in mind. You wanna get that in the right position there. And there we go. Make sure that's all in position. Looks good.

And then if you had those screws underneath, put those screws in and put that adjuster in, lock it in place. All right. Take this panel. If you have those clips, you're gonna line those up, the top here. Slide those in position and snap it in place. Then take these screws from underneath, get these started, and snug those up. Now, take the parking brake release handle and there's a little tab right there that slides in position, and then tighten up that 10-millimeter bolt. Looks good.

And take this fuse cover, snap it in. All right. Now, I wanna lower the steering column. Just use the adjuster and then put the key in. Put it down in low gear. Make sure your foot is on the brake. You can put this trim piece back in position. Just slide it over. You might have to bend it a little bit. And then make sure you line the bottom part up first, get that snapped in, and then go around, snap the rest of it in. We can put it back in park, take out the key. If you removed the steering wheel, now at this point you'd put the steering wheel back on and reconnect the battery.

Disconnect the battery. Disconnect the negative terminal. Use an 8-millimeter wrench. And disconnect connect that. Just slide it out of the way. I wanna release the airbag. I'm gonna use a small blunt object, like a pick. A pick with the tip cut off works pretty good. And just push in here. And there's a little spring that you push on that releases this side of the airbag. Do the same on the other side. You can pull the airbag up. You want to disconnect the wires on the backside. All right. There's two clips right there and just squeeze those clips. Slide the connector out. Slide that off. Place the airbag aside and just make sure you put it face up. If you see, this is how the spring works with the pick. If you push the pick in there, you're just trying to move that spring, so you might have to feel around for it. And disconnect this wire right here, this is for the horn. You're just gonna grab this white tab, push down a little bit and then twist it, and twist it to the left, and slide this out. Disconnect this connector right here.

There's a little lock tab right there, just use a pick or a screwdriver. Then slide that connector off. We're gonna loosen this nut up. Use a 21-millimeter socket and a ratchet. If you can hold it with your knees or have a partner hold it for you while you loosen it. Now, before I take the nut off completely, so that I don't hit myself in the head with the steering wheel, just grab the steering wheel, rock it back and forth. And it should loosen up. If it's really, really tight you can use a puller. There's special pullers for these. And take the nut the rest of the way off. Slide the steering wheel out and slide these wire through. You wanna make sure this clock spring doesn't twist, which it seems like it has a lock on it so it shouldn't...it shouldn't move. Before we take this adjuster off, just adjust the column all the way up. Just be careful. Don't have your hand in front of it. And then use a trim tool and try to pry this lever out. Sometimes these can be very difficult to pry out. It just slides out.

Then under the backside of the cover, just grab the cover, and just slide it out. Pull this down, it'll clip in to the back, just like that. If you have to you can adjust this back down. Just be careful. Don't get your fingers caught. And slide the top off. Just like that. There's a connector right here we need to disconnect. You can use a pick to try to release the lock right there. Disconnect that. If you struggle getting them off, you could always take this lower trim piece off. There's just a couple of screws that come off. Disconnect these connectors. Just use a pick. Get underneath this tab right here. Try not to break it if you have to reuse something. And slide that off, same as this connector. One more connector. It's kind of hard to see, there was a tab on the backside, take that off. Use a T25, take the screw out of here and the one on top. So you get that out, and just slide this right up. And now take a little bit of grease. Put a little grease on there on the new one, looks good.

And take this and slide it into position. And you wanna make sure that that gets pushed in first. There's a wheel on the backside. So, push that in first behind the wheel, otherwise you're just gonna break it. You could always take a pick and just push it back and that slides in position. Take the bolts. Take the bolts. Get the bolts back in and snug that bolt down, same with this one. Take these connectors, line them up where you've disconnected them and lock them in place. And then take this connector and slide that into position right there. Line that up right there and lock it in place. That's good. Take this cover around this shifter boot. That's good. I'm just gonna reposition this. Be careful of your fingers. And this is gonna clip in on the backside, first, and it's gonna clip into the top cover. So, get that lined up with the top cover. And then line up the shift reboot with that as well. There we go. Just make sure that clips in place. That's good. Then reinstall the adjuster handle, lock it in place. Take the steering wheel, slide the wires through this square opening, and line the steering wheel up.

There is a little tab on the shaft of the steering column and a little arrow, you wanna line that up. And it should be slotted. You shouldn't be able to put it on any other way. It should only go in one way. Take the...put the nut back on. Tighten this up. Now I'm gonna torque this knot to 29 foot pounds.

Reconnect this connector, just line it up. Lock it in place. And then the horn connector, slide that in position, and push it down. It should lock in place. Take the airbag, line the connectors up. Just like that. Just make sure the wires don't get caught on anything. Slide that into position, lock it down. Now let's reconnect the battery. And snug down the terminal. Give it a wiggle, make sure it's tight. And you're good to go.
