I bought this MAF after hearing from my local mechanic that the repair would cost over $650.... If you are debating whether or not to do this repair yourself, do it yourself. It is so simple, there are videos everywhere, and this product works great. My service engine light turned off itself after a few hours of driving too. Great product and I highly recommend it.

The mass airflow sensor does not appear to be working for my 2004 BMW X.3 3.0. I was advised not to purchase an aftermarket mass airflow sensor because its known to not work well with BMWs however I thought I will give a one auto a shot. Unfortunately it doesnt work. I had high fuel trim numbers at idle and freeway speeds. This was the problem. This new MAF works great. Fuel trims are now normal. The car runs great!!

ordered the part after mechanics determined that was the part that was needed and the vacuum seal leak test was done. Placed the part on the car and the part may be bad. The car is still running rough and the service engine light is still on. So taking it back to mechanics yet again and then will determine if I need to return the part and how that works with this company.

Got me to pass smog , then the part fails two weeks later good thing they got a life time warranty . Good back up maf to have if u need something quick and cheap. A stock maf should be running at 5.5lb to 6 lb at idle. this one out the box at 3.75lb so right out the box I new it wasnt perfect but it worked . Check engine light came on 2 weeks later so I checked a again it was only reading 0.75lbs .

I'm not sure but M54 is the engine type of production range for BMW X3 and X5 (mine is 2004 X5 3.0i). You need to call the dealership with your Vin number or search Google for your car model and year made.

Hello! Patrick is correct you can always call BMW with the VIN number and they can tell you. Also you should be able to look on the engine block itself and there will be a tag that shows the engine ID. Thank you and have a great day!

open the hood, look at the engine covers with the white stripes running from you to the windshield. if the oil filler cap is between the stripes you have a M54. The m56 is off to the left in front of the white striped cover.

A M56 will have the oil filler cap at the left front corner of the plastic engine cover while the M54 filler cap will be more towards the center of the engine. Search for an image of each engine and it will be apparent.

is this maf a hot wire or film? my 2005 bmw 325i has been giving me running issues with multiple new mafs and throwing a 2873 bmw code stating "hot wire mass airflow sensor" and wont work. anyone have ideas?
