The EGR Valve Temperature Sensor works with the engine computer to control the EGR valve for proper emissions controls. Depending on the temperature of the exhaust gasses passing the EGR Temp Sensor, the engine computer will open or close the EGR for optimal performance. If the EGR Temperature Sensor fails, the vehicle may act like it has a bad EGR since the engine computer cannot accurately monitor the EGR system.
