The GMC S-15 pickup and its twin the Chevy S-10 pickup were introduced in 1982. In response to rising oil prices, General Motors decided to create a compact truck line. The S-15 was constructed from pre-existing GMC equipment in order to save on manufacturing costs. Typical of GM, both the GMC S-15 and Chevy S-10 were nearly identical except for the grill and badge.
