In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the intake hose on this '96 Camry with a 2.2 liter four-cylinder. These often rip up near the engine. The only tools you'll need are some penetrating or lubricating oil, and a 10-millimeter socket with a ratchet and an extension.

You can see the red arrow there point to some electrical tape, and you can see on this vehicle that the intake duct had torn. Somebody held it together with some electrical tape, not the best fix. A new intake hose from 1A Auto will fix it correctly.

Your intake hose is right here, connects your air-cleaner box to the intake, and it's held on with three clamps. There's one here, and I recommend a 10 millimeter socket with a ratchet to loosen up these clamps. Actually you can see on this car, this clamp's already loose. There's another clamp right here next to the air box and I found that it was actually already loose. There's a third clamp right down here. You need to remove those. Then there's also a bolt, 10-millimeter, right underneath right there. I'm going to use some penetrating oil and just spray all those clamps and try to get them loosened up, and then use my 10-millimeter socket and ratchet to loosen the clamps and remove the other bolt. Then once you have everything loosened up, it's simply a matter of pulling the hose off the intake, and off the air box, and then there is also another vacuum, or EGR hose that you pull off right back there. This comes up and out.

You can see this clamp here was so rusted that I couldn't get this off, so I just pulled it out. What I'll do is I'll just twist it and pull it off like that. You'll want to pull this elbow out. Grab hold of it and make sure it spins nice and easy, and then just keep spinning it back and forth pulling firmly, until it comes out. Also take your large clamps off and make sure that they are nice and free.

This elbow doesn't go on all vehicles so you may need to, if you have it on your vehicle, pierce the hose through that, and you may need to take this and kind of pierce it a number of times. Once you've pierced it, then you'll work the elbow into it, and make sure it goes all the way down into the hose. Now it's through. I've replaced the broken clamp there with the stainless steel one and put it in place. Make sure your clamps are where you want them to be. This, it goes on like this, and you'll want to be able to bolt it through there, right onto there. We'll put this on, push down, and adjust it on there. Once we have the hose on there, then you put the bolt in, basically push it in and tighten it up with your 10-millimeter socket ratchet and extension. Now it's on there, and down in. The hose here goes up above it. Just give it a quick out and in. We just connect our hose onto that elbow here in the back. Then push up on the air box, on the engine side. Now I'll tighten up the other points. I'm going to tighten them up so they're nice and firm, not to tighten them too much, just so their holding everything on there well. There's a couple in the hose there, and we're back in. It comes right through here. Reconnect the vacuum line, pinch this clamp, put it on into its clip there, and we're all set.
