The regulator/motor is broken. That's the bad news. The good news is that you have a Mystique. That means it's really just a matter of screws and bolts to replace it. I watched about a half dozen or so YouTube videos first. Watch ones on taking off the door panel and replacing the regulator. Be sure you have some blue painters tape to hold up the window. Duct tape leaves glue on the window. ;) Don't worry about watching ones that drill out rivets. You will have screws. I had never done this before and did it with my daughter (25) watching. It took about an hour and a half. I did the drivers side and she did the passenger side. She had never repaced anything on a car before and completed it without my input. :) the part she found a little tricky were the plastic inserts for screws. Squeeze the tangs on the back with pliers to remove them. Take off screw covers with a utility knife or small screwdriver. Mystiques and Ford Contours are the same car except for the labels so you can watch

I had a similar problem. My power window regulator failed. to roll the window up. This web site is an excellent source for auto parts and some "how to" replace them videos. Best wishes. Josue
