Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks!
In this video, we're going to be working with our 1998 Toyota Camry. We're going to show you how to remove and replace your coolant temp sensor.
This is a very vital part of keeping your engine running properly. It may not throw a check engine light, but a malfunctioning coolant temp sensor can cause the engine to run rough or inefficiently because the engine can't properly compensate for the actual running temperature of the motor, which is crucial to getting a good burn of fuel inside of your engine.

Here are the items you'll need for this repair: 19mm socket, ratchet, socket extension, and a drain bucket.
Here we have our new coolant temp sensor from 1A Auto. As you can see, we have the same 19 millimeter peg. We have the same little probe on the end here that sits into the coolant to actually gauge the temperature. It has the same two pin connector at the top, and it even comes with a new washer here to make sure that it's sealed nice and tight against our engine.
Your coolant temp sensor is a very important part of making sure the instrumentation on your dash functions properly, as well as making sure that the engine is properly managed by the ECU. If you need a new coolant temp sensor, this part from 1A Auto is going to go in direct fit just like your original equipment and fix you up right.
Your coolant temp sensor is this green connector here. Push down on the connector and remove it from the sensor. Then use the 19 millimeter socket and ratchet with an extension. Go over the whole sensor and remove it.
Now you may want to do this quickly if there's coolant in the system, because there's a possibility it will overflow out of the hole, so have the new sensor ready to go and a drain pan under the vehicle. Tighten the new sensor in with the 19 millimeter socket and ratchet and reconnect your electrical connector.
Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.

Does Not Fit

While this part says it is a direct fit for a 2004 Toyota 4cyl. Highlander it screws in the location, but you can't put the plug wire back onto the black plastic part. I had to order another part from another company to get one that the plug wire would connect properly to. Get the part with the white plastic.

Don't know, but I put this one in and it works fine. This is a pretty basic part. Just be sure to get the one that fits your vehicle. It's easy to put in as well.

The difference is the more expensive product is a WELLS name branded product. The lesser priced unit is our 1A Auto branded part. Both have a lifetime warranty
